Walnut Carved and gilded consoles

Using traditional techniques along with an excellent range of sharp chisels, the initial design is transferred into a 2D Relief carving, ready for a parcel gilt finish, emphasising age old skills are still practised today.

Gilded and polished

Our fully equipped workshop in Worcestershire offers traditional cabinet making techniques, applying these skills to the most luxurious contemporary pieces for our most discerning clientele, pieces that last for future generations.

Parcel Gilt

French Polished with parcel gilt expertly applied by our highly skilled craftsmen, picking out the relief carved detailing, highlighting the design and at the same time offering affluence to the piece with the richness of the gold.

Applying gold leaf requires expertise as well as an artist’s eye, it’s delicate, expensive and stunning.

Uniting the traditional with a contemporary twist

Uniting a traditional design with the modern equipment, storage underneath for the fluffiest of towels.

Sink wastes obscured from view with clever use of carved shells and discreet removable back panel to hide plumbing, a fully functional and aesthetically pleasing commission.

We are a small team of cabinet makers, making and designing unique pieces, using hand selected, luxurious materials with a combination of modern machinery with traditional techniques. As our work is all bespoke, it would be an on-going task to update catalogues, so we direct all architects and designers to our website, which shows up-to-date examples of our work, also, if required we can send high resolution images, should you need these for mood boards. Working with national and international architects and interior designers and some amazing private clients, who have all given us stunning commissions to include in our portfolio. For over 40 years, John and his team of highly trained dedicated, skilled cabinetmakers have built a reputation for quality, creativity, and a high level of customer satisfaction. Conserve and Protect our Planet

We are incredibly sensitive to our environment and do our utmost to conserve and protect our planet, our workshops are given light from low energy LED lighting, our roof is fitted with solar panels, giving us some of the electricity we use and at present have saved 1,544.02kg in emissions the equivalent of planting 70.68 trees since November 2021, as we use trees, we also love to plant trees and to date we have planted a variety of 150 native trees, we control our waste by using our wood shavings to heat our workshop with our biomass boiler and we do our utmost to shop local using local suppliers for sheet/timbers, saving fuel miles and local skilled trades

John Beavan helped us design and then made a complete set of 7′ high mahogany doors for our study and the internal doors downstairs in our house. Every day they give us great pleasure and the time and craftsmanship was worth all the effort. We were so pleased we also had a large table made to fit our dining room. That sits happily amongst the rest of our furniture despite being a couple of hundred years younger!

Just a note to let you know that the bookcases arrived safely and are now in use, we are all delighted with them. The quality of the workmanship has been much admired and as well as being a joy to us now we feel they are very much a part of our legacy to future generations of worshippers at Saint Andrew’s. I will record their installation. Along with your name as maker, in our church log book which goes back to 1831 (not ancient compared to your buildings but nevertheless it is an interesting record).

SAINT ANDREW’S HAM
English Heritage worked with John Beavan to reproduce a 19th century stump bed and mattresses, and sets of hanging bookshelves, for the Audley End Nursery project. The aim of the project was to redecorate and re-furnish the empty and derelict Nursery rooms at Audley End, which have never previously been open to the public, and restore the rooms to their appearance in the 1830s and 1840s. The furniture that John Beavan made for the project was based on similar surviving pieces elsewhere, plus contemporary illustrations and descriptions. This was a very exciting project that has enhanced the visitor experience at Audley End.
